Nursing Services Program

The Nursing Services Program is designed to ensure health and safety of individuals with developmental disabilities. IHCOS does so through assignment of a delegating nurse. The desired outcome includes monitoring, securing, and increasing each individual’s health status and overall quality of life through a multitude of mechanisms.

The focus of this program is to ensure the health and safety by individuals served by IHCOS while taking decisions that are in the best interest of each individual. The delegating nurse takes on many responsibilities to do this on behalf of IHCOS. Some of these responsibilities include monitoring the health & safety of individuals, training direct support professionals (DSPs) in medication administration, completing initial and ongoing assessments for each individual under the group home residential program, and ensuring that all actions performed under the nursing services umbrella are in compliance per the Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR).
