Respite Services

Respite is a program designed to provide services to individuals with developmental disabilities on a short-term basis. The intent is to relieve the individual’s primary caregiver in case they are unavailable, experience an emergency, or need a break. The program also serves individuals if they happen to experience an emergency or unforeseen incident and need short term care.

The focus of this program is for Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) employed under IHCOS to assist individuals with disabilities with a temporary, short term situation or to temporarily relieve their primary caregiver. Respite services may be provided in the individual’s home or in a community setting, such as a residence owned by IHCOS. Services are provided that best fit the needs of the individual while supporting the individual’s independence as much as possible.
